Who’s The Boss?

Who’s The Boss?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC or Always On Camera for her constant presence in the spotlight, has declared herself “the Boss”. It is unclear of what. Her self-promotion was stated in the context of her ridiculous Green New Deal, but it was unqualified. According to her, she is the Boss because, no matter how bad it is, her GND is better than no deal, which, again according to her, is the current alternative.

One might think that the power of a Congressional representative has gone to her head, except she doesn’t seem to have one. A head, that is. Most of what she says is bizarrely inaccurate and her blatant class warfare agenda is built on false assumptions. Some of her grosser misstatements include:

“Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs.”

“Unemployment is low because people are working 60, 70, 80 hours a week and can barely feed their family.”

She garnered the “Pants on Fire” award from Politifact for these whoppers. In fact, the unemployment rate is determined by the number of people working not by the number of jobs held or hours worked. People working 70 or 80 hours a week are a tiny fraction of those employed.

The Washington Post gave AOC four Pinocchios for claiming that the Department of Defense is sitting on a pot of cash that could fund 66% of her Medicare For All money pit:

“$21T in Pentagon accounting errors. Medicare for All costs ~$32T. That means 66% of Medicare for All could have been funded already by the Pentagon.”

However, accounting errors are not cash. In fact, the Department of Defense has not received $21T, in total, in all the years of its existence. If DOD funding were eliminated completely over the next 10 years, the money saved would pay less than one-fifth of the $32T Medicare For All price tag.

AOC next claimed that the $3B saved from the Amazon pullout could be spent fixing subways and hiring more teachers. The problem is, the $3B was in the form of business tax credits, not cash.

Speaking of her GND, it was so outlandish that AOC falsely claimed that FAQs containing key provisions were ‘doctored’ by detractors. In fact, none were doctored and all were released by her staff.

Whether she is the Boss or not, AOC is the fastest rising star in the Democrat Party’s constellation. Despite displaying embarrassing ignorance and, in some cases, outright stupidity, she sidesteps accountability. AOC seems to be her generation’s Teflon politician.

But why? Her youth has to be a welcome contrast to the aged politicians who have long controlled her Party. Her unrelenting class warfare is also a reason. Those who believe that capitalism will never be replaced in this Country had better figure out a way to deal with the Boss.
