Don’t Bother They’re Here

Stephen Sondheim wrote the song Send In The Clowns for the 1973 musical A Little Night Music. The ballad laments a doomed relationship and expresses deep regret. The title is a recognition of the foolishness of squandered opportunity.
Fifty years later, the lyrics describe the state of the Democrat Party with its very strained voter relationships. Some Dems, but almost none openly, are even experiencing deep regret.
And there are plenty of clowns. They’re the Dems who are taking the stage in an attempt to usurp Party control.
These clowns don’t speak of the election outcome, why it occurred or necessary changes in the Party platform. Instead, they scream and yell, call opposers foul names and tell whoppers about Trump and his Presidency. With blinders on, they also continue to insist on the social change agenda that voters rejected.
The list of these clowns is long. At the bottom are buffoons like Tim Walz, losers who rejoice in acts of violence perpetrated against their opposition. Higher up are people like Chuck Schumer who oppose Trump regardless of the best interests of the Country. Trump is his litmus test. If Trump is for it, Chuck’s against it. Period.
At the top of the list are those determined to take control of the Party and force it down the path of their choosing. Among them AOC and Bernie Sanders are the most vocal. They are storming the Nation attempting to rabble-rouse support for their extreme political positions.
The Dem clown car is very crowded.
In the song, sending in the clowns was ultimately unnecessary as they were already there. In our case as well, don’t bother they’re here.
